AWS Class ER317L is a low-carbon stainless steel filler metal used in the Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) and Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) processes. Its composition includes chromium (Cr), nickel (Ni), and molybdenum (Mo), offering excellent corrosion resistance, particularly in acidic environments. Mechanical properties include high tensile strength, good weldability and resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. The flux used with ER317L enhances arc stability and slag removal.
