The AWS Class ER310 MIG and TIG filler wire is crafted from high-chromium, high-nickel austenitic stainless steel, making it perfect for welding stainless steels from the 25% Cr / 20% Ni family, like type 310 stainless. It’s also great for dissimilar metal applications that need to withstand heat and corrosion. You can use it in both MIG (GMAW) and TIG (GTAW) processes, and it delivers stable arc performance, a beautiful bead appearance, and works well in all positions. This filler wire guarantees strong, long-lasting welds that resist scaling, creep, and high-temperature oxidation.
When it comes to typical weld metal composition, you’ll find carbon at 0.08–0.15%, chromium at 25–28%, nickel at 20–22.5%, manganese at 1–2.5%, silicon at 0.3–0.65%, and molybdenum up to 0.75%. Its mechanical properties are impressive too, with a tensile strength around 610 MPa, yield strength of about 480 MPa, and elongation between 34–44%. This makes for robust, corrosion-resistant welds that can handle tough environments.
